After the disastrous state Texas has been left in after Hurricane Harvey, Dover High School Students have been wondering how they can help the victims. With help from the community, projects to benefit those affected have been created.

Hearing classmates’ desire to aid the victims inspired National Honor Society member, Molly Simek, to start a clothing drive. With the help of myself and others in our school’s chapter, a collection of new and gently used clothes, towels, and bedding will take place from September 11th to October 16th. Our donation box will be located in Dover High’s main office with a full list of what will be accepted. Not only will these items be sent to those hit by Harvey, but also to those affected by Irma, José, and Katia. All items will be sent to GreenDrop, an organization in partnership with the Red Cross.

Not interested in donating clothes? There are still other options!

Mrs. Louder, a teacher here at Dover High, has a Aunt that lives in northwest Houston. While her house was spared in the disaster, her community was not. In cooperation with the local American Legion, Mrs. Louder’s family has created an Amazon wish list Items purchased from the list will ship directly to the Legion which will distribute the items to those in need.

Senior Muskan Kaur is raising money through the Heart to Heart foundation. The money will go towards purchasing hygiene kits and delivering them to those in most desperate need of them. To donate, contact Kaur via her email:
